24 hours ago we didn't have these new books. We didn't have these increased rewards. We didn't have (fill in blank). Accept what you've gotten and be happy with it or maybe next time the Devs should think twice before releasing such a wonderful update. As it would appear from reading the numerous "I want more" threads some of you really don't deserve what you've gotten.

Yes, i do have a problem with it.
Because we already are used to Books being retroactive, this update is a slap in the face to most (if not all) of the veteran players.

Smiles - and this is the exact point you are missing in this "glass half empty hand out for more" approach - they are NEW.
They weren't there last week and they weren't there when we did the missions. They weren't there so you could plan your gaming and title strategy about them for the past 2 weeks or months (as one QQ lamented - geesh I wonder later in life whether that poster is going to accept that the stock market won't keep him notified 2 weeks ahead so he can never lose money). They never existed at all until they were created NEW as of Friday.
So everyone got dealt that hand. You, me, the Savior guy who has the max faction title already, and the newbie starting out. The Savior guy has to cope with the fact that we get quicker faction now and the title he enjoys will be way less exclusive now. We have always had to cope with the fact that we have to go out and get the remaining faction, and in our case we are not going to get handed 500K (3 characters each) that only one of us thinks should be given to us on a silver platter.

The newbie starting out now is probably way more willing to fill a couple of books and doing, say, a Guardian title. Everything is new for him, and he/she's probably yet to clear any of the games with his/her very first character. So, that's a welcomed addition for him. A great updated, and I'm grateful for what we got - even though that's what developers are paid for, so Anet don't owe us nothing as much as we don't owe them gratitude. It's their job and their purpose to have their customers satisfied with the product.
Well, I did all those things hundreds of times before and I don't really feel like starting over again, expecially with the Guardian titles, which have been a pain for me, playing alone with H/H, no consumables, no PvE skills. To me, doing missions once again it's just tedious grinding, and that's what this update was supposed to reduce. I'll deal with it, I've done it all before. That's why I can't see this like "new", tough, it's just a late attempt to fix a problem ignored for so long. Fine, then. Credit people for what they did, at least.
Sorry, I still don't think having to do something twice to get a reward some other people is getting for doing it only once could be fair.

There is not going to come any large free content for Guildwars until GW 2 comes out. Replay the huge game that you have or leave. I think you QQ's should be a little more grateful for what you got already since this game has no fee. Most subscription games deliver much less quality wile demanding your cash every month. I didn't pay for anything GW related since GW:EN came out, but i played it almost every day for at least a few minutes.

well if the offical wiki has the right numbers for the turn ins the books for the most part are not worth it. its only good for toons that go though it or are half way done. though i think if you have a toon that has legendary Guardian you should get a bonus or like dubble the points on other toons. or the first other toon to turn in a full book gets a dubble the xp tite points and gold.

Little disappointed in the books cause there is NO way I'm going to do 58 mission and then again in HardMode. But then again. The reward isn't that good so i really don't care much.

This bullshit happens all the time. I bought a Sony Bravia two years ago and last year they started giving out free PS3s with them. So I went back to the shop and demanded my PS3, because why shouldn't everyone get a free PS3 instead of just the new ones! It's a slap in the face for veteran TV watchers.
Guild Wars should be retroactive just like life.
I'm quitting the game until this gets fixed and you all know how much that's going to screw with your experience.

And if we leave who is going to say we will come back for Guild Wars 2?
People who have to be enticed to play by bringing in these books will soon become bored again and leave. Loyal players like us will stick around for much longer. When Guild Wars 2 finally comes out a lot of the potential players who would sign up will be us - those who have played for years. If ANet gives us the finger now we may not be there to ensure they hit the ground running.
It's ANet's choice.

I'm just annoyed that I am being forced to have to work through a game again, just to get rewards I don't really need in the first place. I paid to work through this game once only and the fun stopped after that.

Exactly. They don't need the faction. Nobody "needs" experience points (most verterans have several characters with 100s of unused skill points). Everybody wants money.
They are exactly like the people who stand around begging for 50g to open storage.

IMO, only books that needs to be retroactive is Shiro's return and Night falls, but also remove the money reward from both. They gave retroactive rewards to all the other rep events they changed, but not these. I don't think alot of the people who are pissed cares about the money, it not really that much, mostly they want the titles points.

The people that this bothers isnt new players, its players that have already got the title, we are not the ones standing around begging for 50g, we have multiple sets of FoW armor and know how to make money in the game.
The fact that Books ARE retroactive, and we are used to them being retroactive. By releasing the update and saying "Umm..the new books arent retroactive because umm...It would be bad for the..umm..Economy". This is what is setting us off. Legendary Guardian was a chore all by itself, telling us to umm..go do it again is just pure Evil.

Relax, people.
It's not like this update (or any update, save for a complete rebalance of everything) is going to make a stale game fun again.
If you didn't have the will to play before the update, you will have gained nothing today.
The books are clearly aimed at new players. I see nothing wrong with ArenaNet trying to attract fresh blood.
Just let it go and let's patiently wait till Guild Wars 2 for ArenaNet to prove themselves to us again.
